Pulling the Radish

author & illustrator ZHOU XU

An old man planted a radish, which grew very big. One day, the old man tried to pull it out but couldn't. He called for the old woman and his grandson to help, but even they couldn't budge it. Some little mice underground had also discovered the giant radish and were tugging at it. Suddenly, with a 'plop,' the radish was pulled out, but by whom?

This is a new interpretation of a traditional folk story, with a dual narrative structure that makes the illustrations and story content more diverse. It infects the reader's emotions with childhood memories, evoking memories of reading classic stories. The clever and unique concept makes the classic story full of surprises and unexpected twists.

The little mouse lives in a big pile of books and feels very happy because he can find lots of books to read, such as his favorite story, 'Pulling the Radish.' He tells a version of the story that his great-great-great uncle told him, which should be the real version.
