Today I would like to introduce a picture-book author and illustrator Da Wu and share his upcoming works with you.
Da Wu was born in the early 1990s. He is a picture book author and illustrator who has previously worked as an illustrator for Keigo Higashino, Li Juan, and Liu Liangcheng's works. His picture book, The King of Trees, published by Beijing Poplar Publishing House in 2019, was named by dPICTUS in 2019 as one of the "World's 100 Outstanding Picture Books" and was featured at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Later, The Bird and the Statue won the New Talent Prize at the BIBF Ananas International Illustration Exhibition. His works have been translated into Spanish and Danish.
"Da Wu's perception is remarkable; he sees magic in the mundane," said Zhang Hong, a Chinese children's literature author and founder of the Magic Children's Book Club.
Da Wu's stories follow his exploration and metaphors for life and relationships, combined with his healing and bright art style, like a beautiful postcard. We hope that both young readers and adults will be able to easily enter and explore Da Wu's picture book world.

Da Wu moved a snail out of kindness, but the snail was unexpectedly captured by the bird. The story then begins with a two-line narrative, one telling of Da Wu's chagrin for doing bad things with good intentions, and the other telling of a snail's experience after being caught by a bird, and the two lines affect each other without the characters realizing it.

Da Wu's older brother got a magical carpet that could fly in the air, and the dog, kitten, bird, butterfly, and Da Wu all wanted to sit on the flying carpet with their brother in turn, until the flying carpet became overwhelmed and fell from the sky, torn. But Da Wu thought up a clever solution that allowed each of them to fly again on a broken flying carpet.
